Agri-Marketing - FAO Joint Conference Print E-mail
The Conference, jointly organized by the Agri-Marketing Project and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN, took place on July 7th 2008.
Participants were addressed by Key Note Speaker, Mr Daniele Bianchi, Member of the Cabinet of European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development. He gave an overview of market challenges and opportunities for farmers in Europe.

Opening of the Conference by Ms Maria Kadlecikova, FAO Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia. 

Market Diversification was the topic of the next Guest Speaker, Mr Cedric Porter. His presentation drew on innovative examples of UK business success, illustrating best practice in market diversification. He provided practical recommendations for vocational training and policy initiatives to help stimulate rural diversification. While Guest Speaker, Mr Campbell Laird entertained the audience with his presentation on Branding, highlighting the importance of understanding your customers and the specific characteristics of your target market. 

Agri-Marketing Partners, Mr Laszlo Podmaniczky of the Institute of Environmental and Landscape Management in Hungary and Mr David Lamb of the Scottish Agricultural College gave the final two presentations. Their presentations were on Agri-Marketing and the Environment and New Market Opportunities with a focus on health, convenience and provenance
